Vintage Risdon Silvertone Metal Double Candle Holders Candlesticks Pair
These graceful candleholders are true rarities. They were made in Risdon's Naugatuck factory.
I was unable to find any information about them until I finally made a phone call to Risdon Mfg. in 2003 or 2004. Though the woman I spoke with knew nothing about them. Luckily, a gentleman was there who said this candleholder had to be at least 50 years old. He had been working in the Naugatuck factory 36 years ago and has knowledge about the products of that factory, but he hadn't seen or heard of any product like this.
The type of metal is a mystery. Possibly brushed aluminum.
A magnet would stick to the bottom plate on the underside, but not to any of the rest of it.
The parts are riveted together, not welded, soldered, nor held with bolts or screws.
These candle holders are very light, each weighing about 3 ounces.
Each measures about 8" wide, from the outer edge of one cup to the outer edge of the other, with the top of each cup being about 3 1/8" off the table. The base measures 3 1/4" diameter.
One looks wonderful on its own, especially on an average-size table or coffee table, end table, etc. Both of them together would be stunning on a larger table or pair of nightstands, fireplace mantle, etc.
They're not huge, but make their presence known with simple statement, especially if holding 12" tapers.
